FaMiLy

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.

He said, "Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you.

"We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.

While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me an d said,

"While dealing with a stranger,common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes.

"By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.

"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.

I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."

I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way.

"He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.I love you anyway.
"I said, "Son, I love you too, and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."

Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us ina matter of days.But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.
And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than into our own family,an unwise investment indeed,don't you think? So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?

The Other Woman in Your Life

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She said, "I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you."

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie. "What's wrong, are you well?" she asked. My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news. "I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you," I responded.

"Just the two of us." She thought about it for a moment, and then said, "I would like that very much."

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary. She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's. "I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed," she said, as she got into the car. "They can't wait to hear about our meeting."

We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. "It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small," she said. "Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor," I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation - nothing extraordinary but catching up on recent events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie. As we arrived at her house later, she said, "I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you." I agreed.

"How was your dinner date?" asked my wife when I got home. "Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined," I answered.

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her. Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place mother and I had dined. An attached note said: "I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you, son."

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: "I LOVE YOU" and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve.

Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till "some other time."

Only You

A person can make you feel high,
A person can make you feel low.
But only you can decide,
Which way you want to go.

A person can hurt you mentally,
A person can hurt you physically.
But only you can place,
A limit on your abilities.

A person can cause drama,
A person can cause a situation.
But only you can create,
Your own reputation.

A person can make you laugh,
A person can make you cry.
But only you can make,
Decisions for your life.

I guess what I'm trying to say,
That when you're living day to day.
Don't live by what people do,
But live by what you know is true

Friends You Care About...Do they....??????

*7 Ways to know if your friends really care about you*

- *They are interested in your well being, and not in what you might give them or do for them. *
- *They listen and care about what you have to say. *
- *They are happy for you when you do well. *
- *They say they are sorry when they make a mistake. *
- *They don't expect you to be perfect. *
- *They give you advice in a caring way. *
- *They respect your privacy.

*Friendships can be confusing at this time in your life.
You may be makingnew friends while you are trying to keep old friends.
It can also be hardknowing what to do if you disagree with a friend.
You can have a goodfriendship and still disagree sometimes, though.

Tips for handling a disagreement with a friend: -

In a healthy friendship, you should not be afraid of losing a friend because you say "no."

Good friends should respect your right to say no about anything and not give you a hard time.

It is important that you show your friend the same respect when they say no to you.

If you and your friend disagree about something or have an argument, it does not mean that you have an unhealthy relationship.

You will not always agree with what your friend has to say, but it is important thatyou respect one another's opinions.

As long as you and your friend listen to what the other has to say, you should be able to work through a disagreement.

The relationships you have will help you learn a lot about yourself.

You will find out what things you like to do together but, moreimportantly, you will learn about the kind of friends you want to have and the kind of friend you want to be.

How do I know that I have a healthy friendship with someone?

- You feel good about yourself when you are around that person.
- You think that there is an equal amount of give and take.
- You feel safe around the other person.
- You enjoy spending time with the other person, instead of feeling like you're pressured into spending time with him or her.
- You feel that you can trust him or her with your secrets.

If you don't feel that there is good communication, sharing and trust, you are probably in an unhealthy relationship.

Remember, though, that trust takes time to build and you have to take care of your relationships with thoughtfulness and patience.

If you are not feeling good about how things are going, try talking to theother person about how you are feeling.

If you aren't able to work on making things better *together*, you may need to end the relationship.

If it's hard for you to stop spending time together, keep talking to the other person about how to make your relationship healthier.

Sometimes, there isn't anything you can do to make the relationship better, and staying involved can be hurtful to you.

Having A Friend

If, he can speak up his mind,
And know when to shut up;

If, he can pat your back,
And kick your butt;

If, he can share a hearty meal.
And a good joke or a sunset;

If, he acts neither BIG, nor small, but just MeDiUm,
And lets you to be what you are;

Then he is the answer to your needs!
Because there is a difference between “having a friend” and having “A friend”

Little boy and the Old Man

Said the Little Boy – “sometimes I drop my spoon.”

Said the Old Man – “I do that too.”

The Little Boy whispered – “I wet my pants.”

The Old Man laughed – “I do that too.”

Said the Little Boy – “I often cry.”

The Old Man nodded – “So do I.”

“But most of all,” said the Little Boy, “it seems grown ups do not pay attention to me.”

And he felt the warmth of the wrinkled old man, “I know what you mean.” Said the Little Old Man.

To My Growing Up Son

My hands were busy through the day,
I did not have much to play;
The little games you asked me to,
I did not have much time for you.

I would wash your clothes; I would sew and cook,
But when you would bring your picture book;
And ask me, please, to share your share your fun,
I would say, “A little latter son.”

I would tuck you in all safe at night,
And hear your prayers, turn out the light,
Then tip toe safely to the door,
I wish I would stay a little longer.

For life is short and years rush past,
A little boy grows up so fast;
No longer is he at your side,
His precious secrets to confide.

The picture books are put away,
There are no children’s games to play;
No goodnight kisses, no prayers to hear,
That all belongs to yesteryear.

My hands once busy, now lie still,
The days are long, and hard to fill;
I wish I might go back and do,
The little things you asked me to!

Please Mom Donot Tell Me

Please Mom, do not tell me how I should feel,
I am hurt and I feel it;
Please Mom, do not tell me how to do I,
For in my heart I know what is right;
Please Mom, let me age,
Do not hold me back; the world is waiting for me;
My Barbies have dust on them; my pink dresses are too small,
My bed time stories are ages ago;
I know it is hard Mom,
But I am spreading my wings;
Please Mom, let me face the world,
For that is what you raised me for;
I am not scared Mom, but, Mom do not forget I am still your little girl.

STANDS BACK when it is time to let go;
A Dad knows that love is not easy or safe,
Sometimes it is about saying NO.

And with the passage of each day,
It grows more Clear, that;
The GIFT that that will last all life through,
Is LOVE through the years;
Through the smiles and the tears,

Mother's Love

Everything a mother touches,
In her loving way;
Blossoms with her tender care,
And brightens day by day;
That is why we bring her all our hopes
And disappointments too;
Knowing of her special knack,
For helping dreams come true;
Maybe it’s a word she says,
Which makes the sunshine start;
Maybe it’s her endless faith,
That really warms the heart;
We may not know just what it is,
That makes her mean so much;
But everyday we thank God,
For his loving, “mother’s touch.”

Someday I Will Tell My Children

“You do not love me!” how many tomes have your children put that to you? And how many times you as a parent have resisted the urge to tell them ‘HOW MUCH YOU DO!?’
Someday when my children are old enough to understand, the logic that motivates a mother, I will tell them :-

I loved you enough to annoy you about where you were going, with whom and what time you would get home.

I loved you enough to be silent and let you discover that your hand picked friend was an obnoxious person.

I loved you enough to stand over you for 2 hours while you cleaned your room, a job that would have taken me just 15 minutes.

I loved you enough to make you return a chocolate with a bite out of it and confess to the shopkeeper, “I stole this”.

I loved you enough not to make excuses for your lack of respect or your bad manners.

I loved you enough to ignore, what every other mother did despite your complaints.

I loved you enough to accept you for what you are and not what I wanted you to be.

But most of all, I LOVED you enough to say ‘NO’ when you hated me for it – it was the hardest part of all.
